How to sign up for the SAT

  1. Sign in to your free College Board account. Your parent or counselor can’t register for you.

  2. Provide your full, legal name and other identifying information. Make sure it’s the exact same name and information shown on your photo ID.

  3. Decide if you want to answer other questions about yourself. This takes time, but it’s worth it if you want colleges and scholarship organizations to find you. Learn why you should opt in to Student Search Service.

  4. Decide whether to sign up for the SAT with Essay. See which colleges recommend or require it.

  5. Upload a photo that meets very specific photo requirements.

  6. Check out, and print your Admission Ticket.

How to sign up for the ACT
Gather all needed information. (Information needed for the nest can be found at the act website.)

  1. Create an account if you do not already have one. If you do then log in

  2. Click on "The ACT Test" and click on "Register Now for the ACT"

  3. Complete all profile sections of the registration packet.

  4. Choose your test date

  5. Choose your test option, either with or without the writing portion.

  6. Choose what colleges receive your scores.

  7. Choose your testing center (certain high schools offer the ACT on certain days. If you preferred testing center doesn't offer the day you are testing then you can enter your zip code to look for near by testing centers.)

  8. Look over yours information carefully.

  9. Pay for the test. (The amount can vary based on if you take the test with or without writing and if you register late.)

  10. Upload a picture of yourself so the test administrator can confirm you are the one taking the test.

  11. Then once everything is done, print your ticket.
