Congratulations to our Female Raider team for winning National Champions!

What is JROTC?

The Palmetto High School JROTC program is not only a class that instills cadets with values of leadership, responsibility and motivation. It also provides a foundation of our nation's history.

Some basic concepts taught in JROTC includes both the program's history and our nation's history along with basic concepts of first-aid, the Army's Command structure and career planning.

Our three instructors: Lieutenant Colonel Philip Pugh, Warrant Officer John Edmond and Sergeant First Class Antonio Baez. They teach cadets the core JROTC curriculum and coach our extra-curricular teams.

Many graduates of our program have received appointments to The United States Military Academy at West Point, The Naval Academy, and Air Force Academy.  We also have alumni attending major universities on 4- Year ROTC  scholarships, academic scholarships and Bright Futures.

Our cadets are among the finest and most talented in the State, as our Raider, Drill, and Rifle teams consistently win county, district, state and national championships. They also focus on serving their community at the local and national levels. From beach clean-ups at Emerson Point to working with Habitat For Humanity, our cadets are always looking for ways to improve our community. We are an Honor Unit with distinction, an award given to programs of the highest quality.

As Army JROTC leaders, cadets learn to identify their leadership strengths and opportunities for improvements. They also learn the following core abilities:

  • Communicate using verbal, non-verbal, visuals and written techniques

  • Take responsibility for your actions and choices

  • Treat self and others with respect

Vision - JROTC will provide a quality citizenship, character, and leadership development program, while fostering partnerships with communities and educational institutions.

Mission - "To motivate young people to be better citizens"
